Presidential Talent Scholarship for Current Senior High School Students

McHenry County College, along with the Friends of MCC Foundation, award the prestigious Presidential Talent Scholarship to qualified individuals based on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and service. Up to five recipients will receive 60 in-district credit hours of tuition, fees and books at MCC. Criteria:

  • MCC in-district high school graduate from the current school year.
  • Earned a minimum of 3.6 high school GPA confirmed on the high school transcript.
  • Reside with the boundaries of MCC.
  • Score a 1300 composite SAT or 28 composite ACT and submit official documentation.
  • Enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester (fall and spring).
  • Must provide 2 letters of recommendation, one from a teacher.
  • Provide a 300-500 word essay on one given topic:
    -How a project that I worked on in H.S. has inspired me to learn more in the future.
    -Getting out of my comfort zone and challenging the status quo.
    -Who is a person, or some people that have great confidence in my ability? How am I like these people? How can I realize this level of confidence?

  1. Please note: This award is only open to in-district MCC freshman for the following school year. Are you an in-district high school graduate from December 2023-June 2024?
  2. This scholarship requires student to be enrolled full time. Will you be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours?
  3. Applicant must provide two letters of recommendation for this scholarship, at least one from a teacher. These can be requested in the General Application - you may continue to add to the General Application until the deadline. We highly recommend that you have two letters of recommendation in the General Application in order to obtain higher rankings for all scholarships. If you need to upload an additional file, you may do so here. Be sure all uploaded files do not have more than one decimal in the name.
  4. You must have a minimum 3.6 High School GPA or a 1300 composite SAT score / 28 composite ACT score. Please have MCC receive these documents through the SAT or ACT sites. You may upload a copy here if available.
  5. This scholarship requires a 300-500 word essay on one topic of the following three given.
